Painting with Light

A "Painting with Light" photography evening has been organised at Ludlow Castle on 12th October.

The aim of the evening is to have a go at a different type of photography - the taking of images at night utilising only torches and hand-held flashguns. This technique of lighting will be used in two manners :

  • To take photographs of Ludlow Castle at night, showing the castle as it's never been seen before.
  • To gain experience in the technique of "Painting with Light".

The technique of utilising hand held light sources will allow either particular areas of a subject to be lit up in various ways with differing amounts and colours of lighting or to use the light itself to draw a picture in the darkness, utilising objects as props in the picture.
The techniques are easy to pick up, after which much fun can be had practicing and playing with the light. By the end of the evening everyone should have a picture to be proud of and a new technique to practice for themselves.
